Disciples’ is sourced mainly from old vineyards with unquestionable pedigrees, both historically and in terms of pure quality. The name, though, is a nod to the younger vineyards growing up in the shadow of those older vines who have already proven their worth. These “disciples†show a lot of promise, and we’ll happily follow this producer into the future. This particular vintage comes from the Morisoli Vineyard in Rutherford and the Tofanelli Vineyard in Calistoga. It’s a smooth, luscious blend of 49% Zinfandel, 19% Petite Sirah, 10% Charbono, 9% Grenache, 7% Syrah and 6% Merlot. Strawberry preserves and a garden of flowers lead towards an earthy, spicy palate with a long, dusty finish.
