Produced by Jorge Ordóñez, the funky Wrongo Dongo is a young Spanish red wine that, besides its funny name, has a lot offer. Crafted by oenologist Rafael Cañizares at the Bodegas Volver winery, which he started with Mr. Ordóñez a decade and a half ago, this wine is made from 35-year-old Monastrell vines grown in rocky, dry soils in the southeastern Spanish region of Jumilla. Fermented in stainless steel tanks at a temperature below 27ºC, Wrongo Dongo 2020 was subsequently aged for a brief period of 6 months in French oak barrels. This varietal red wine from Jumilla is a fabulous value.
