Travaglini Gattinara best expresses the classic qualities of the appellation; it is a wine with marked minerality and complexity. Deep ruby red in color with garnet reflections. On the nose, aromas of red fruit, blackberry, plum and licorice with hints of vanilla and leather. Full-bodied palate, with intense flavors of cherry, raspberry and spice culminating in a long and smooth finish. Outstanding with red meat, game, and hard cheeses. The Travaglini 2017 Gattinara represents a blend of some of the best fruit found across this beautiful 44-hectare hillside estate. Nebbiolo (or Spanna as the grape is known locally) from Alto Piemonte and the Gattinara appellation tends to show pretty red fruit characteristics with cherry and raspberry and a genuine or accessible approach. You get lots of that here in this bottle, spurred forward by the hot and dry conditions of the 2017 vintage. This Gattinara, packed in its trademark bottle with sensuous curves, is best suited for near and medium-term drinking.Â
