Given its large, well used assortment of wooden toneles and fouders, housed in a no frills winery in the heart of Mendoza's primera zona, it is easy to compare Weinert to such wine world traditionalist stalwarts as Lopez de Heredia in Rioja, or Lebanon's Chateau Musar (whose wines are brought in by Weinert's US importer). Malbec is obviously a specialty at Weinert as it is throughout this historic portion of Mendoza wine country, and here we have the opportunity to taste it all on its own, with the added benefit of the Weinert touch with its longer elevage and additional time in bottle.
