Tasting Notes: Abandon Sauvignon Blanc is a bright, lively wine that opens with notes of tangerine, pink grapefruit and Meyer lemon. Touches of white peach, lychee and sliced pear underscore each sip. This light- to medium-bodied, sun-drenched Sauvignon Blanc feelsrich on the palate, then ends with aclean, zippy finish that is thoroughly refreshing.A touch of Pinot Gris was added to finesse sweetness and roundness.
About the Regions:Abandon SauvignonBlanc sourcesthe majority of its fruit from vineyards within the High Valley and Red Hills AVAs in Lake County. These dynamic geological areas were formed by ancient volcanic and tectonic occurrences. The resulting soils offer excellent drainage and are rich with natural minerals. With some vineyards planted as high as 3,000 feet, Lake County’s UV exposure and wide temperature variants promotes concentrated fruit and perfectly balanced pH levels in our grapes. At night, airflow from the Pacific Ocean cools the vines, allowing for excellent balance and acidity. The balance of the fruit was selected from Alexander Valley and Russian River Valley in Sonoma County, some of the most prized wine regions in the world.
Winemaking Notes:Our Abandon Sauvignon Blanc was pressed to tank, cold settled and racked with light lees to tank for fermentation. We aged the blend in 86% stainless steel, 13% neutral oak and 1% new Hungarian oak, stirring the lees to build body.We prevented the wine from undergoing malolactic fermentation to keep it bright and crisp. The wine was then blended and bottled early to preserve the intensity and complexity of the fruit.
